How can I make my writing relate to a variety of audiences?
To make my writing style relatable to different audiences I must be broad with my words, at the same time descriptive with my main points. As if I'm reading a Stephen King book or any other good author, be able to imagine or picture the words I'm reading. Making my words come to life even if my audience has never been through whatever situation or predicament I am describing, they can illustrate the words in their very own view. As I listen to music and relate to the lyrics of my favorite artist I imagine writing my very own song with words so vivid and clear its could be a paiting. If a thousand people read my writing I would ask them all to paint a picture afterwards and no one picture would be the same but all would have the same concept. My writing purpose is to persuade, explain, inform whom ever is reading it to see things as I see. Being a psychology major I know what makes sense to me doesn't make sense to everyone but if I could get a wide audience to question their very own knowledg and see how I do that would be magnificant. Most writing I do in my spare time is more of poetic and lyrical. I better understand someone through music than reading about it or them. I want to speak to the world not just people around from where Im from. But to do so I have to touch a subject the whole world can imagine or relate to. Like the musicians with a broad fan base seem to be more successful than one with certain or specific fans.
-Arnechia Hall On Writing With A Purpose-
I agree with you on understanding someone through music. I can relate with people through their books too, but I can better relate to them through their music. When I read a book or listen to music I like to paint a picture in my head like you mentioned in your blog.
ReplyDeleteTwo snaps up Arnechia I feel you girl two snaps up! Your having a party, what should I bring honey! You have art, music, and poetry going on! Work it, work it! Writing is like a flower bed, it has so many arenas in which to play in.So many shades, shapes and colors in which to choose. I respect you bravery in stopping and smelling them all.
ReplyDeleteTarsha, You have an absolutely wonderful way with words! And I agree with you about Arnechia's post-she captures her immersion in the world of words vividly. It sounds like we're going to have a lot of fun with language this semester, which is what writing is all about.
